Rooms

The exquisite mix of contemporary design, natural materials such as raffia and wood and stylish African handicrafts gives the spacious rooms and suites of the One&Only Nyungwe House a very special charm. While the double rooms with combined sleeping/living area offer enough space for 2 people on about 44 sqm, the luxurious suites with 2 separate bedrooms and a total area of about 130 sqm present themselves as the ideal choice for those who want to treat themselves to an extra pinch of comfort. All accommodations have their own balcony with a dreamlike view of the green hills and the rainforest, as well as a generously sized bathroom with a bathtub and shower.

Culinary

Tailor-made menus featuring freshly harvested seasonal ingredients from the property's own garden await you at One&Only Nyungwe House's restaurant. Start your day with a sumptuous breakfast buffet, sample local snacks for lunch, and join an African tea ceremony in the afternoon with tea from the property's plantation. With its floor-to-ceiling windows, the restaurant also offers a magnificent view of the jungle idyll. In the evenings, Chef Treasure Makwanise will treat you to fine regional and internationally inspired-creations. The bar provides you with drinks and refreshments throughout the day, which you can take on request on the panoramic terrace.

Location

Far from urban life, One&Only Nyungwe House welcomes you amidst the dense vegetation of the Nyungwe Forest. Declared a national park in 2012, the rainforest offers ideal opportunities for observing chimpanzees, Ruwenzori colobus monkeys and exotic bird species. You are separated from the nearest airport, Kigali, by around 230 km. You can easily reach the accommodation itself by car or by helicopter to the hotel's own landing pad.

Attractions

Set off at dawn under the guidance of a guide for an exploration tour through the Nyungwe forest and keep an eye out for chimpanzees, Ruwenzori colobus monkeys with their typical black and white fur markings and rare bird species. A special experience is a hike along the panoramic trail that runs high above the dense greenery between the treetops - from up here, you will see the lush vegetation from a whole new perspective. Back at the hotel, the fantastically tranquil spa awaits you with organic-based wellness treatments. Just as refreshing: a tour of the tea plantation, including tasting of the cultivated tea varieties. During a visit to the neighbouring village of Banda, you can contribute to the conservation of natural resources by purchasing handmade souvenirs.
