Multiple luxury huts with thatched roofs are built into a lush hillside in a forested area at dusk.

Gorilla trekking in northwestern Rwanda - like the honeycombs of a beehive, the exclusive suites of Bisate Lodge rise from the densely forested slopes of an extinct volcanic crater. With the pristine jungle idyll right before your eyes, you quickly realize why around a third of the world's mountain gorilla population is located here, of all places, at the foot of the Bisoke and Krisimbi volcanoes. The neighbouring Volcanoes National Park, with its lush cloud forests, lush plains and dramatic volcanic cones, provides an ideal habitat for the gentle giants of the jungle, who live here together in several family groups and can be visited under the guidance of a knowledgeable ranger. Step into an unforgettable nature experience and discover the magic of Africa.

Attractions

Primarily, a stay at Bisate Lodge is ideally suited for a gorilla tracking tour, where you will be driven by your guide to the headquarters of the national park in the early morning and assigned to a group with a maximum of 8 participants. Together you will then set off on the drive and further walk to the respective gorilla family. For about an hour, you can enjoy the presence of the highly evolved primates - an experience for the ages. Afterwards, you will return to the lodge with unforgettable impressions in your luggage. You would like to learn more about the sustainability projects of the accommodation? Visit the tree nursery and contribute to the reforestation of the region by planting a tree yourself. An equally rewarding experience: a trip to a nearby farming village.

With its convenient location right next to the volcano national park, Bisate Lodge is the ideal starting point for exciting tracking tours in the footsteps of the rare mountain gorillas. The Bisoke and Krisimbi volcanoes provide a dramatic backdrop for extended hikes and walks. In addition to the majestic mountain gorillas, you can also observe other wildlife species such as golden monkeys, elephants and exotic birds. On the Dian Fossey Trail, you can hike to the grave of the famous American zoologist and gorilla researcher and visit the research station she founded.
