The Canopy Walk is one of the highlights when visiting the Nyungwe Nationalpark in Rwanda. Suspended above a gorge in the lush mountain rainforest of Nyungwe National Park, the footbridge offers a breathtaking perspective of ancient treetops and wildlife. Approximately 160 meters long and 70 meters high, the suspension bridge is accessible as part of a guided tour on the Igishigishigi trail or for hikers on the Imbaraga or Umuyove trails. Opened in 2010, it is the only one of its kind in East Africa and the third in all of Africa.

Nyungwe Forest is the largest protected mountain rainforest in Africa and has a huge diversity of species. On the approximately one-hour walk that starts from the Uwinka Tourist Center and leads to the jetty, visitors can see countless butterflies, orchids and colourful birds, many of which are endemic to the region.

Thirteen species of primates live in Nyungwe Forest. So encounters with them are not impossible.

The steep forested slopes have well-maintained trails, but they can get muddy, especially after rains.
