Mount Kigali

Written by: Anja Sterker Last updated at: March 4, 2025

Mt. Kigali is the highest mountain in the capital of Rwanda, at around 1,800 meters. It is located in the southwest of the city, in the lively Nyamirambo district. There are several trails where you can hike to the top and enjoy a great view. Many visitors start the hike to the top from the Sun City Hotel near the regional stadium. Those who do not want to walk the trail alone should book a guide. This can be very helpful as some of the trails are not signposted. The trails are suitable for anyone in normal health.
